more Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Our friends, Pete and Jean had RV problems on their way to Gettysburg. They were fortunate to get service today. Unfortunately, they could not drive their rig, so they had to be towed.
All hooked up

this was sad to watch

We missed them alot today as we began our touring. We went back to the Visitor's Center and took a picture of a statue of Abraham Lincoln. He was President during the Civil War, so he is prevalent around Gettysburg.

We traveled Confederate Highway to Culp's Hill. We climbed a tower and could view the entire area SO well.

We enjoyed walking around the cemetary and seeing soldiers from various wars had been buried there. We asked about the burial of the confederate soldiers and we were told that they were left buried in the mass graves. Confederate Women's Organizations saw that there were cemetaries developed in the south and had them moved. Northern politician's of the time put money into developing the National Cemetary in Gettysburg.

From the cemetary, we had lunch at McDonald's. Then we traveled to find the NC Memorial.

We traveled on to Little round top. This is where you can look over the Valley of Death, Slaughter and Devil's Den. Devil's Den was where the 10th Mountain Division 2-14 saw it's first conflict. this is the unit that Bubba belongs too right now.

We rested for a short while. then we had a MOD at Friendly's Family Restaurant. When we returned, Pete and Jean had returned and were sitting on their site. Petie, our French bulldog missed them today, too.
