Worship at Ocean View Baptist Church

7-29-2012 Bruce and I attended the 11 AM service at Ocean View Baptist Church. We heard the missions Minister speak this morning. He spoke from 1 Samuel when Saul was chasing donkeys. We enjoyed sporting new clothes!!

We went down the street to K&W Cafeteria for lunch. Their food is most always great.
We are considering rejoining the Catamount Club since we will be around close enough to attend the home games.

7-30-2012 Doing laundry and exercising with a Leslie Sansone video. i went the entire 5 miles!!
After a horrible rain and electrical storm, jean, pete,Bruce and I had an MOD at the Magnolia Restaurant on 26th. This is a country cooking buffet!! Jean took some great pictures.

Shopping and Johnny Rockett's

from the front

Bruce and I went in search of a chili cheese dog for me and a bacon cheesburger for him. We rode by the Steak n Shake and Hamburger Joe's. Both had people standing out the door and all around. We went to Barefoot Landing to a 50s restaurant called Johnny Rocket's. This was a great choice. 50s music and the waiter and waitresses sang and 'danced'.

Johnny Rocketts is an American restaurant franchise whose concept is to create a classic American restaurant atmosphere. This concept began in 1986 by Ronn Teitelbaum of Los angeles, California and crafted it as a 'nongimmicky' recreation of the 1940s vintage malt shops of his childhood. the first restaurant was established as a 20 stool counter operation on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The theme is diner style that was a common sight by the 1950s. Decor includes Coca Cola advertising featuring almost life sized cardboard illustrations of women in WWII armed services uniforms, individual jukebox stations, chrome accents and red vinyl seats. The staff sing and dance every 30 minutes. making a smiley face with ketchup on the paper plate when served american french fries is a Johnny Rockett trademark.

A couple of the waitresses singing and 'dancing'

We had such an electrical storm this afternoon. But we could not complain since this was only the second day that we had such rain.
Jean, Pete, Bruce and I went for coffee and dessert at Goodfellows Seafood Hut and Bar. Michelle was working and we took the album of Petie pictures that she had requested we bring.

Merl Lynn Woodcock Hutchins

7-25-21012  My Aunt Merl Lynn went to be with her Lord and Saviour in her new heavenly home. She was married to my Uncle Max Hutchins. She was the mother to Beverly, Bruce and Elaine and grandmother to Michael. In 1967,  Max, Beverly and Bruce all went to their heavenly home. There has been a glorious reunion, for sure.
My Aunt Merl Lynn was an awesome woman. As I was a young woman when I really got to know her well. Her arms were always open wide to give and receive a big hug. She became a confidant, a role model and a friend to me. I thought that there was nothing she could not do. She was a hunter of large game. She had a wonderful voice and sang with Sweet Adelines and in "South Pacific" at a Community Theatre. She once brought Elaine and I threw an ice storm in Ft. Smith, Arkansas that I thought no one could get through.
You NEVER had to wonder what she was thinking and sometimes that offended. There was no doubt that she loved family and her boisterous laugh will definitely be missed at family gatherings.
You NEVER had to wonder is she loved the Lord because she spoke of Him often and you could tell that she knew Him!
I spoke to her on the telephone on Sunday evening and told her how much that she meant to me and how much that I loved her. I was SO thankful for that privilege.
Merl Lynn, I will see you again some day!!

9-15-2012  A private memorial service was hels today by the Hutchins family. Several relatives spoke of how Merl Lynn had impacted their life. Aaron Pruitt officiated the service using Psalm 23 to show aspects of Merl Lynn's character.  Her nephew Don Singleton shared a song that he had composed regarding Dolly, a horse that he had inherited from Merl Lynn when she needed to find it a home. Several threads run through each eulogy. Her smile, her hugs, her boisterous laugh, her grief was between her and God and her great singing voice (just breaking into song 'I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair' and  'Let's go this a-way'.  Also, it was recounted how the nieces were not sure about their Uncle Max having a wife because when he and Merl Lynn married,he was the only unmarried uncle and we had taken turns seeking his attention. A special prayer was for Elaine and her family during this time.
Her love for the Lord and her dependence on Him was evident in her life. Her love for the Hutchins family was evident when she relocated closer to them from Alaska so Elaine could know them.

WE LOVE YOU, AUNT MERL LYNN

Having a great summer with friends

7-23-2012 Continuing to exercise with Leslie Sansone 5 mile video! did 4 miles this AM. Went to the pool with Jean for about 1 1/2 hours. It got too hot for us today. I cooked some potato salad and had left over mixed beans with it and we enjoyed eating in.

7-24-2012 I did laundry this AM and then exercised 2 miles with Leslie Sansone. Jean and I went to the pool for about 1 1/2 hours. Bruce had the awning over the door replaced. The in and out mechanism was not working and the fireworks from Lakewood had left holes where the embers had fallen. We went for our MOD to the Mongolian Grill in N Myrtle Beach. The food was great.

Mongolian Grill was originally from ancient Mongolia. According to legend, when the mighty Ghengis Khan was expanding his empire, after a long day of battle, he and his warriors set up a tent, made a campfire, and then sat around the campfire to prepare for their dinner. Short of cooking utensils, the warriors would use their fighting tools like swords to thinly slice the meat, then grill the meat upon the warriors' upturned shields over the campfire.
Until the 13th century, Mongolian grill was introduced into Central Plains. The Chinese people made an innovation to add some fresh vegetables, spices and sauces to make Mongolian Grill more attractive.

7-25-2012 Jean and I went to the mall for about 1 1/2 hours this morning. Jean had her nails redone. I shopped at Belk. I found placemats and napkins for the RV table!!  We  planned a meal around grilled steaks. I made a green bean casserole and baked two potatoes for me and Bruce. Jean made baked beans, an apple dessert, bread and sauteed mushrooms. a great "dinner and sweets".

Having a great summer

july 5  I cleaned the RV from front to back. Then I finished reading JD Robb's Big Jake.  Bruce and I invited the troops over for homemade ice cream. He made a gallon of banana ice cream and 1/2 gallon of peach. We served a choice of pound cake or vanilla wafers with each bowl!!We had a great time.

july 6  We are very concerned about Bruce's mother. She is having to take pain medication for her back pain. this is unusual for Katherine to complain. Bruce went to the flea market store and found two boiled egg cookers for the microwave. He also found a vegetable steamer and a corn on the cob cooker for the microwave!! We went to the Eddie Bauer Tanger outlet on Hwy501 and i found some shorts and a pair of long pants. I was PLEASED beyond measure at how my size has changed. I am now almost back into the size that I was when we married. The Leslie Sansone exercising (walking) about 3-4 miles each day has paid off!!!
We ate our MOD at Steak n Shake. I had their delicious portabello mushroom hamburger. We visited with the troops awhile and then we visited with Tony and Linda Smith at their camper. We plan to eat out with them tomorrow night!

july 7 We traveled to N Myrtle Beach to Barefoot Landing and ate our MOD at T Bonz Steakhouse. This was a great time. Bruce and I had neither been to this restaurant. I had a salmon steak and grilled brussel sprouts. I saw on Facebook that Robin McGinnis Baker had died. I called Jack and told him. She was near his age.

july 8  We moved to Briarcliffe RV Resort this early AM. We will be here the rest of July. We went to cracker barrel for breakfast. Tommy and Joan Almond joined us. I ate the low carb eggs and breakfast this AM. We went to the clubhouse for banana splits. I had some sugar free ice cream instead.

july 9 We went back to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I had Mama's french toast breakfast today. We went to Wal Mart and had prints made of Riley pictures for us and our mothers.

july 10 Pete and Jean Crean arrived today and we got to see their interior upgrade. Wow! everything looks so nice. We went to K & W for our MOD. It was raining so hard that the streets were flooding BAD!

I bought a Photography for Dummies book for myself.  I also found Riley a Skip Hop mealtime kit. The Creans and us had our MOD at Burro Loco. The food was prepared well however, I prefer my Mexican food a little less spicy.

july 18  We shopped the Tanger Outlets on Hwy 501. We did well at the Eddie Bauer and Colombia Outlet stores. Jean and I went to the pool for 2 hours this afternoon. it was great with a nice breeze off of the intercoastal waterway!! This German Restaurant was established in 1984 by Horst Goetz, who is still the owner. Horst Gasthaus is a taste of Bavaria in Myrtle Beach. The current kitchen staff includes a German cook that was born and raised in the small Bavarian town of Priem am Chiemsee, where he began his  culinary career before moving to the US in 1986 and began working at Horst Gasthaus in 1989.

july 22  We worshipped at Ocean View Baptist Church again this AM. We heard a great message from Ezekiel about the dry bones in most any church that can have life in them again through Christ Jesus. The Jaw bones, the Wishbones, and the Knuckle bones.

Happy Birthday America!!!

We have been enjoying the sun and fun in the shade at Lakewood Camping Resort since June 27. Bruce rented an umbrella to use on the beach for this week and I have thoroughly enjoyed that. It is SO much better than sitting in the sun. AND I am getting a nice tan. We have friends her that we visit almost daily. The Smiths, Boones, Clarks and Greenes. A great place to be during the Fourth of July holiday watching the excitement of so many people. Lakewood celebrates by crowning a new beauty queen and a parade.
I am so proud to be an American and celebrating my country's birthday brings alot of emotion. I am so blessed to live in the USA where our freedoms are so plentiful. This freedom does NOT come free. I thik about all of the military all over the world protecting those freedoms even though, many times, they are in harms way. I am proud of my son who chose to serve his country to help protect these freedoms.  I am so proud of my daughter in law who said yes to his proposal of marriage on July 4th three years ago. She has exemplified the loyalty to being a military wife even when times have been VERY difficult. They are both amazing young adults who have just had an amazing child!!
