7-11-2011-our travel from Emporia, Va. to Gettysburg Pa. dealt with lots of traffic. We stopped at 104/I 95 for diesel fuel. this was the first time we had had to fuel since going to MB. It took 57 gallons at $3.77/gallom. Go figure :((((. We were met by Pete and Jean at the Gettysburg exit and they led us in to the campground.

Arriving at the campground |
We got settled in and rested for a short while. Pete and Jean had cooked the BEST meal and shared with us. It was a meal that included German food of pork loin, red cabbage, potato dumpling , corn and gravy. A great time with friends. We decided to begin our next day about 10 am.

great displays of the battle |
7-12-2011 We went over to the visitor's center and spent alot of time watching the film narrated by Morgan Freeman, the Cyclodrama of the Battle of Gettysburg and the Museum. The medical display was interesting. You could hardly recognize anything in the Aid kit. There was a saw and an instrument to hold blood vessel that actually looked like a dental instrument. Apparently, amputation and blood letting were the two main types of treatments used.
We ate our MOD at a reataurant called General Pickett's Buffet. It was good food for sure. The food was very good.
We then began a self guided tour of the battleground. IT IS HUGE! there is alot of fencing like this.
