We traveled about 230 miles today and we were so glad to see Jonathan's Creek when we arrived at Creekwood Farms. We got a site on the creek and got set up. We then celebrated our return with Ammon's hotdogs and a banana split. We visited briefly with Tommy and Joan Almond. It was great to see them. They have had a great summer as well. We talked about how nice it was to keep our 'old RVs' instead of trading.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with over nine million visitors in 2012, is the most visited park. Travelers come to enjoy its spruce and fir forests, wildflowers, cascading streams, roaring falls and spectacular wildlife. Stretching between North Carolina and Tennessee, the great Smoky Mountains are crisscrossed with over 800 miles of trails, including the famous Appalachian Trail, which cuts through the park just before the NC state line.
You'll find evening campfire programs, guided hikes, history demonstrations, and other ranger-led programs from June through October. The Smokies are one of the few places remaining in the eastern United States where black bears live in wild , natural surroundings. Some 1,500 black bears live in the park, and a reintroduction of elk began in 2001. Other animals successfully reintroduced to the park include river otters and barn owls. Since much of the park is blanketed in dense forest, your best bets to view wildlife are in the open areas such as Cades Cove and Cataloochee. We will soon be right at the base of the Cataloochee.
