The Grand Canyon...train ride

The Creans and us had breakfast at the Railside RV Park office/gift shop...a Belgian waffle, hard boiled egg. and orange juice. The owner shuttled us to the train Depot on their mini bus. We attended a Wild West Show and then boarded the train to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We had a great bon voyage as we began our train ride. That is about 60 miles away from Williams, Arizona and the train went 30-40 MPH...so it took about 2 hours to get there. The landscape along the way changed from desert to scrubs to Ponderosa pines. We saw no wildlife along the way. we did see cattle running from the train!!! We arrived and departed the train. We had our MOD at the El Tovar Hotel Dining Room. This lodge styled hotel was was phenomenal in its old architecture. The view of the canyon was great. Such spectacular beauty!! We had an outlaw gang attack and rob passengers, but the Marshal took care of them!!!!

Other means of transportation to the canyon...mules and all sorts of vehicular shuttles

Our train today had 16 passenger cars plus all of the other cars...café car, engine, etc. a loooong train.

We had entertainers on the train

The Cataract Creek Gang put a boulder in front on the track and boarded the train and 'robbed' the passengers.
