New Orleans, Louisiana

We traveled 221 miles and were in four states today. We went through Mobile, Alabama where Daddy had looked for work at one time before he and mother were married (in the mid 1940s). We followed Pete alot today. We went through tunnels and up on high bridges. We stopped in Gulfport, Mississippi for diesel fuel. We got into the NAS, new Orleans...Aviation Arbor RV Park for two nights. The sites are NICE!!  It feels good to be parked here as opposed to somewhere up town. I was amazed at all of the newly constructed apartments, etc. that have all gone up since Hurricane Katrina.
There is still lots of construction going on and lots of houses that still need to be replaced.
We passed the Mercedes Benx Superdome on the way in.  We are signed up for a 1 1/2 hour walking tour in the French Quarter for tomorrow!!!
We hooked up and were out of Pensacola about 7AM CT.

Bruce said that after Katrina, they had literally put pontoons on boats for traffic to get across Lake Ponchatrain. He should never have been on that road. He was like riding on water as a boat would do with the waves just a rocking! These boata/pontoons were at the end of the part of the old bridge that was left.
