We traveled 245 miles today primarily across the Sonoran Desert. Believe it or not, there were some interesting things out there. We left Tucson at 7AM PT and knew it was going to be HOT.

Along the way, we past an area that is the Air Force's Barry M. Goldwater Range. This is 1-2 million acres of open desert land.
There was also a point of interest called the Painted Rocks Petrograph Site located near Gilda, Arizona. It is the largest known petrograph site in the area with 800 images pecked out onto weathered basalt boulders overlaying a granite outcrop. These images are characteristic of the Hohokam and Patayan cultures.

In the midst of this desert, we saw well irrigated areas growing corn for example. We saw another dairy farm.
We did have warning signs about the dust blowing AND we saw a dust whirlwind,
Just west of Casa Grande and to the left of Interstate 8 West was Table Top Mountain. There are guided hiking tours available, but NOT this girl. i was quite happy viewing it from afar!! It'selevation is 4,323 feet.
There is an Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument south of Intersate 8. There was eveidence of this area as we rode by

We saw evidence of the use of the sun for energy.
