Welcome to California

We began our day on the road at 7 AM PT. As we were leaving this morning a woman took time out of her morning walk to talk to me and Jean. She and her husband live year round in Yuma. She said they have temperatures of 115 and 60% humidity in July. I cannot wait to get out of this heat. We traveled 256 miles today from Yuma, Arizona to Seal Beach, California. We are parked for three nights at Seabreeze RV Park on Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station. It sure is more tolerable temperatures!!!

Oh well....we tried

We traveled Interstate 8 very close to the US /Mexico border.

to the left....Mexico

to the right.....US

cute small church on the hill

sand dunes with ATV tracks

the wall marking the border

this checkpoint was closed, however,
we did go through one that was open

Going through Imperial Valley, irrigating and honey bees to pollinate produces lots of California crops. Hay is just one of these crops. Actually, part of  Imperial Valley is below sea level.

we weere down low

the honey bee hives are like the ones from my earlier blog post
about  transporting of bees to California for pollination

The Desert View Tower stands sentinal over the Imperial Valley. Its lighthouse structure is fitting as it once served as a way station for weary travelers.

stands at 3000 feet elevation

use is made of the high winds!!!

We traveled through the Cuyamaca Mountains . Pictures can only describe how tiring this drive was for Bruce and Pete.

Oh Yes....could easily be necessary!

Bruce commented.....you know this is not very much fun...:((((

noted several indian reservagtions along thee way

and we were very high!!!
