Thusand Trails/Orlando

3/17/2012 Today is the 25th anniversary of the explosion/fire that destroyed our Salem High School. I remember that sound and the shaking of our house like it was today.
We met with several other Guroos at Cracker barrel for breakfast. The majority of the Guroos will be heading back home tomorrow (3-18-2012). Thanks to Frank and Susan Reynolds for the picture of that gathering!!

3-20-2012 We actually got to hear the Weavers again tonight!!!!

The 13 year old girl sang her solo and did VERY well!! The 11 year old boy has just turned 11 and got a large guitar for his birthday. Unfortunately the lead singer was sick. she did not sing The Tennessee Waltz. She sat on a stool and was using cough drops alot. This was apparently an add on performance before going home on Friday. Their home is in Helen, Georgia.

3-21-2012 i visited with our neighborhood turtle again. Bruce and i went out to Steak n Shake for our MOD and had to wait on two different turtles before we could pass getting out of the campground.

Plant City, Florida PARKESDALE FARMS

The Giles traveled with us to Plant City, Florida to Parkesdale Groves/Farms for strawberry shortcake/milkshake. We have been there many times but today there were the most people we had ever seen. we had to park in the back. We were joined by Hiram and Phyllis Brown. As we were leaving TT, we saw a huge turtle eating in the grass. As we were leaving Parkesdale Farms, there was a clerk came running out with a plant. A snake had been found in the pot!!!!

Thousand Trails at Peace River

Today has been another # 10 day!! We have just had a wonderful day in the 85 degree Florida weather. After the AM routine, i sat in the sun for about 1 1/2 hours again. i surprised Bruce... and myself. i wore a swimsuit that i had not worn alot and thought it was too small for me. Needless to say, I was VERY happy when it fit nicely. Bruce went to the grocery store to get a few things. After sunning and shopping, we went to Peace River Bees to make a final stock on honey. These people ship bees to many places to produce different flavors of honey. Blueberry honey is made in Michigan. They send their bees as far as California, also. They have orange blossom honey that can be made very easily in Florida. The Palmetto honey is also good. I have become very impressed with some of the products made from honey. Lotion, moisturizing cream and soaps. My father was a beekeeper and I have always known that hon ey has medicinal effects as well as being quite tasty on warm bread!!!!

This and another chicken were resting under a truck. They were just trying to stay out of the way of the bees!! There were also ginnies running around the farm.We stocked up on honey to have as gifts to friends back home.
After we had a marvelous griddlered ham. provolone cheese and pineapple sandwich, we took a walk down by the river alligator hunting!! Look what we found.

I also enjoyed this evening's sunset. I did not capture it at it's peak, but a pretty good picture anyway.
